Jakelina Listes for Stone Threads. Unique, eclectic and boho inspired statement necklaces.
Statement necklaces are made of mixed up-cycled, second hand and found objects and materials. Each necklace is totally individual and unique. Due to the designing and crafting process replication is not possible, nor encouraged.
Statement necklaces are usually large in size and have a comfortable fabric backing.
Inspiration for my work on statement necklaces comes form ethnic and global patterns, colours and styles.
The process I employ in crafting these wearable art pieces is complex. It takes many days to make one, depending on where the creativity takes me to. Statement necklaces are usually done by stitching the beads, objects, decorations etc. to the felt backing. Sometimes I use special glue, but it is mostly stitching.
Additionally, I might use wire to connect certain pieces together. I usually do not have an exact view of what the necklace should look like until I am half way through with it. In fact, sometimes I have no idea until the very end. This is fun part, and I often surprise myself. At times I have been able to make pieces that surpassed my expectation. This happens when I have odd materials that kind of do not go together. Sometimes that would be items I was ready to pass along to someone else or to discard them all together. But than at the end they end up working great together or with an extra cool detail on top.
